About the Artwork

I never knew you could get a rainbow lit by moonlight before I lived out here on the Isle of Lewis. One night many years ago I was driving home from Stornoway and noticed this huge rainbow on the moor, it was a beautiful moonlit night and I was so relieved I had my children in the car with me to confirm what I was seeing. I have seen one other fantastic moonbow from my back garden but didn't have the skills then to photograph it. I've been dreaming of seeing and photographing on from Callanish for years.

This November full moon it was pretty cloudy and I didn't think I was going to get a glimpse of the full moon. I went up to the stones when I saw a gap in the clouds and was happily clicking away taking Callanish and full moon pictures (yes I already have many of these). Suddenly there was a subtle change in the light and I turned around and saw this!. I was so excited it's a miracle I managed any usable photos at all.
