They are still trying to establish exactly what the phenomenon known as 'Steve' is. It appears as a ribbon of light in lower latitudes of aurora reach and is connected to aurora but appears as a ribbon of drifting light in the sky. I've only seen and photographed it this once at Callanish in March 2018. The combination of this drifting, separating and rejoining ribbon of light in the sky was mesmerizing.
